TOKYO, July 30 (UPI) -- The bodies of three South Korean climbers who disappeared in the Japanese Alps have been located by rescuers, South Korean officials said Tuesday.
The officials from the South Korean consulate in Tokyo said the three victims were among a group of five climbers on a mountaineering trip when they went missing Monday, Yonhap News Agency reported.
A fourth climber was rescued while a search for the fifth climber continues.
The bodies of three victims were on climbing routes between Mount Hoken and Mount Minokio early Tuesday, officials said. However, only one of the three, 78-year-old Park Moon-soo, has been formally identified.
The fourth climber, a 63-year-old woman identified as Lee Jong-sik, was rescued earlier in the day.
