BEIRUT, Lebanon, July 29 (UPI) -- Parliament sessions in Lebanon were postponed Monday for the third time this month as a result of a repeat boycott by lawmakers, officials said.
Speaker Nabih Berri said the next sessions would take place on Aug. 20-21, The (Beirut) Daily Star reported.
Berri said the sessions scheduled for Monday were canceled because members from Michel Aoun's Free Patriotic Movement, the Future Movement, the Lebanese Forces, the Kataeb Party, and independent March 14, as well as caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati boycotted, arguing the legislative sessions under a caretaker government are unconstitutional.
Those boycotting the sessions have called for the assembly to meet to discuss urgent matters, not to approve draft laws as scheduled.
