MOSCOW, July 27 (UPI) -- Three tons of oil spilled in Siberia following an accident during excavation efforts in Russia's oil-rich Novosibirsk region, emergency officials said.
The accident occurred at a site operated by the oil company Transsibneft, RIA Novosti reported Friday. No waterways were affected, the report said.

Company officials said it was not clear what caused the spill.
