ST. JOHN'S, Newfoundland, July 26 (UPI) -- A polar bear injured a hiker at a park in the remote northern region of the Canadian province of Labrador, authorities said.
A statement from Parks Canada said the victim was attacked while with a group of hikers in Torngat Mountains National Park, CBC News reported Friday.

Parks Canada said the hiker had been airlifted to a trauma center in Quebec. The statement did did not indicate the severity or extent of the hiker's injuries.
Others in the group were not injured; they were taken to a base camp by boat, the statement said.
