Turkish PM Recep Erdogan says he's committed to Kurdish peace

ANKARA, Turkey, July 17 (UPI) -- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he's committed to the peace process with the Kurdistan Workers' Party.

Speaking at a fast-breaking dinner held for the families of soldiers killed in conflict Tuesday in Ankara, Erdogan said his administration will overcome attempts to derail the ongoing settlement process.

As part of the process, he said the government would refrain from being disrespectful to the memory of the soldiers killed in conflict with the Kurds, Today's Zaman reported.

There have been no soldier deaths for seven months, he added.

Erdogan also said there has been no political bargaining with the PKK.
