S. Korean investigation team interviews pilots

SEOUL, July 7 (UPI) -- A South Korean team, joining in the probe of the crash-landing of an Asiana Airlines plane in San Francisco, has interviewed its pilots, the government said.

A six-member South Korean team, sent to the United States for a joint investigation into the Saturday incident in San Francisco involving Asiana Airlines Flight 214, has interviewed the four pilots of the Boeing 777-200 plane for the first time, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Monday.

The pilots are currently staying at a San Francisco hotel, Yonhap News Agency reported.

The plane, with 307 people aboard including the crew, had taken off from Inchon International Airport in South Korea. It crash-landed in San Francisco Saturday. Two students, both Chinese, reportedly were killed and another 181 passengers were injured.

Asiana is South Korea's second-largest flag carrier.

The South Korean government said besides interviewing the pilots, its investigation team also sent two of its members to Washington, D.C., for a joint analysis of the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder.
