Mortar barrage hits Pakistan border town

ANGOOR ADDA, Pakistan, July 6 (UPI) -- A mortar barrage from inside Afghanistan caused damage in a Pakistani border village Saturday, Pakistani security officials said.

The officials said they sealed off the town of Angoor Adda and began an investigation into who was responsible for the bombardment, DAWN News said.

More than 50 shells were lobbed across the border into the South Waziristan tribal region, with 10 falling inside Angoor Adda.

Conflicting media reports indicated as many as five people may have been injured in Angoor Adda.

The remote border area has been the scene of repeated shelling incidents involving Pakistani and Afghan security forces, Khaama Press said.
