Police raid two terror rings in Germany, France

BERLIN, June 25 (UPI) -- Police in three European countries, Germany, France and Belgium, say they conducted anti-terror raids to foil at least two separate plots by Islamic extremists.

In Germany, police said they raided at least nine locations in Stuttgart and the Saxony region in search of evidence against a suspected terror ring headed by two Tunisian men who were plotting to blow up an unspecified target. Other targets in the terror ring in Munich, Germany, and unspecified locations in Belgium were raided because associates of the two men are suspected of financing the operation and laundering money.

Authorities told The New York Times no one had been taken into custody and the raids were in search of evidence. Details on what was seized were not released.

In a separate action in France, authorities said they have detained six people in the Paris region ranging in age form 22 to 38. Four are French nationals, one is from the West African country of Benin and the last from the Indian Ocean Comoros islands.

Details on the French plot were also not released and what if any charges have been levied isn't clear.
