SOFIA, Bulgaria, June 24 (UPI) -- Thousands of protesters gathered in Sofia, Bulgaria, for the 11th day to protest the government of new Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski.

Despite intense heat in the capital this week, the number of protesters has risen, the Bulgarian news website Novinite.com reported.

The growing crowd was organized in front of the presidency and the Council of Ministers, Bulgaria's Focus News Agency reported, chanting slogans including "Resignation," "Mafia" and "Red trash."

The country's new prime minister, installed by Parliament May 29, has provoked anger by making several questionable appointments, most notably that of national security chief Dalyan Peevski, Novinite.com said.
