ARNSIDE, England, June 20 (UPI) -- Rescuers pulled a couple and their dog from quicksand in Morecambe Bay, England, an area of mudflats near the village of Arnside, a Coast Guard spokesman said.

The couple -- a man and a woman whose names were not reported -- were walking on the beach Sunday afternoon when they were cut off from the mainland by an incoming tide and sank into mud. The man, 46, sunk in up to his knees and the woman, 25, was stuck up to her waist, the Blackpool Gazette reported.

Witnesses called authorities after the couple got stuck. The dig did not appear to be injured, the report said.

A 14-year-old girl was stuck in the quicksand up to her waist at Morecambe Bay earlier this month, prompting warnings from authorities the BBC reported.

Coast Guard member Chris Turner said: "Luckily those that have become stuck in recent weeks haven't been seriously hurt. We're urging people to take extra care."
