Toronto police raid apartment linked to mayor's alleged crack video

TORONTO, June 13 (UPI) -- A Toronto apartment building linked to allegations of crack smoking by Mayor Rob Ford was among more than 30 addresses police said they searched early Thursday.

The building in suburban Etobicoke is reportedly the location where drug dealers may have stashed a video that allegedly shows Ford smoking crack cocaine, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

The raids, conducted by heavily armed tactical officers from multiple jurisdictions, were part of an operation targeting guns, criminal gangs and drugs, police officials said.

Dozens of officers charged into the Etobicoke apartment just before 5 a.m. They later led out people in handcuffs and put them in police vehicles.

Police carried boxes of poential evidence from the building but didn't say if a video was recovered.

The apartment is near a house where a photograph was taken that appears to show the mayor posing with suspected drug dealers, the CBC said.
