MELBOURNE, June 11 (UPI) -- A judge is allowing details of an Australian man's violent history at his pre-sentencing hearing for the death of Australian Broadcasting employee Jill Meagher.
Lawyers for Adrian Bayley, 41, of Melbourne said Justice Geoffrey Nettle has lifted a suppression order that prevented consideration of dozens of past violent sex attacks by Bayley, Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
Bayley has pleaded guilty to raping and murdering Meagher last September.
A stripper who knew Bayley told Australian Broadcasting he used to simulate strangling her and told her he "wanted to choke women."
She said the last time she saw Bayley was a few weeks before Meagher went missing.
In 2000 and 2001, Bayley committed 16 rapes against five street prostitutes in Melbourne's red light district. He drew a sentence of eight years in jail and was released in 2010.
Bayley committed his first rape at the age of 18 against the 16-year-old friend of his sister.
His lawyers said Bayley has accepted that he should receive a life sentence.
