QENA, Egypt, June 5 (UPI) -- Egyptian officials said they have ordered an investigation into a surgery in which doctors used cellphones for light because of an electricity outage.
The medical team, headed by Dr. Amr Abdel Wahed, was performing gallbladder surgery on a 60-year-old woman when the power went out in the middle of the operation, al-Masry al-Youm said.

Doctors then began using cellphone lights when efforts to operate an emergency generator failed.
Qena Governor Adel Labib ordered the investigation, al-Masry al-Youm reported.
Egypt is experiencing almost daily power cuts as part of the government's plan to reduce pressure on power stations during the summer.
