Colombian police seize 1.4 tons of cocaine

CALI, Colombia, May 30 (UPI) -- Colombian police in the southwestern city of Cali said they seized 1.4 tons of high-quality cocaine that was being shipped to the United States.

The shipment would have been transported to Buenaventura, and then to the port of Quetzal in Guatemala, police said.

The drug's final destination was the United States, where the market value of the shipment would have reached between $28 million and $32 million, Colombia Reports said.

After more than a month of intelligence work, the drugs were found in rectangular packages wrapped in plastic.

No arrests have been made in connection with the seizure, but police said the shipment belonged to Los Rastrojos, the country's largest drug trafficking organization.

Authorities said they are continuing their investigation to find the traffickers.
