Kuwait police bust 76 at rowdy party

KUWAIT CITY, May 26 (UPI) -- A particularly wild party Kuwait landed 76 revelers in jail on charges ranging from drinking to cross-dressing, police said.

The reported Bacchanal was raided by officers who said they found a crowd of men and women dancing up a storm in various stages of inebriation and undress, Gulf News said Sunday.

"The police found semi-naked men and women dancing to loud music and they all seemed completely drunk," a security source told the Arabic daily newspaper Al Rai. "The police promptly covered their bodies and took the 76 men, women and (cross-dressers) to the investigation directorate where they were charged."

It was not known if the suspects were Kuwaitis or included members of the western ex-patriot community.

Gulf News said the bust took place Friday in neighboring Saudi Arabia, where a rowdy group of Americans, Europeans and Saudis was rounded up at a party that allegedly included cocktails, blaring music and the performance of unspecified "Satanic rituals."
