Iran hangs two spy suspects

TEHRAN, May 19 (UPI) -- Two Iranian nationals accused of spying for Israel and the United States were executed in Tehran at dawn Sunday, the prosecutor's office in Iran said.

Mohammad Heidari was accused of collecting classified information and providing intelligence to Israel's Mossad agency, Iran's Press TV reported. The network said he allegedly received large sums of money from the Israeli spy agency for the information he provided them.

The second Iranian was identified as Kourosh Ahmadi, who authorities alleged provided the CIA with classified intelligence information on Iran.

Both were sentenced to death by Tehran's Revolutionary Court, the Ahlul Bayt News Agency reported.

German broadcaster Deutsche Welle noted Iranian national Majid Jamali Fashi was executed in May 2012 after he was convicted of spying for Mossad and playing a key role in the January 2010 assassination of Iran's top nuclear scientist.

The German network said Amir Mirzai Hekmati, a former Marine who has dual Iranian and U.S. citizenship, is jailed in Iran on charges of being a CIA spy.
