One worker killed in UAE mosque construction collapse

ZAYED CITY, United Arab Emirates, May 12 (UPI) -- At least one person died in the United Arab Emirates when the ceiling of a mosque under construction collapsed, police said.

The incident took place Saturday in Zayed City in the Western Region, Gulf News reported.

Police said the dead victim was Asian and at least one Arab was among the injured.

The ceiling caved in while construction workers poured concrete for the roof, said Col. Ajeel Ali Abdullah, director of the Western Region's Police Department.
