Dubai police enhance car fleet

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, May 6 (UPI) -- Dubai police will receive a Bentley, an Aston Martin and Mercedes to add to their fleet of luxurious cars of Ferraris and Lamborghinis, police officials said.

"Dubai is a unique city and everything in it should reflect its uniqueness and for that reason police will add a Ferrari sports car to its patrol fleet," Dubai Police Chief Dahi Khalfan said.

"Dubai police are working on updating the police patrol cars to enhance security on the roads in accordance with highest international standards and technical developments."

Deputy Police Chief Khamis Mattar said the additional cars to join the fleet will patrol city streets and showcase the luxurious vehicles in a city he said has become a cultural melting pot and a popular tourist and business destination, The National said.

The new additions to the police force are to be exhibited at the Arabian Travel Market at the Dubai World Trade Center before they are begin street patrol in Dubai.

The vehicles will have distinctive police markings and paint and some will have flashing light rails on the roofs.
