North Korea blames Seoul for Kaesong plant closures

SEOUL, May 5 (UPI) -- North Korea again blamed South Korea for the closure of a jointly run factory complex, state-run media said Sunday.

A spokesman for the Pyongyang government told the Korean Central News Agency it was the supposedly provocative acts of South Korea that forced the closure of the Kaesong.

"The South (Korea) should end all of its hostilities and military provocations if it is really worried about the fate of the Kaesong Industrial Complex and inter-Korean relations on the verge of collapse," a spokesman of the North's powerful National Defense Commission said in the report, which was monitored in Seoul.

South Korea Friday pulled out the final seven workers who had been wrapping up the affairs at the Kaesong, South Korea's Yonhap news agency said.

The South Korean military continued preparations for military exercises with the United States that begin Friday. North Korea specifically mentioned the war games as "the main culprit" in the shutdown of the Kaesong complex.
