KABUL, Afghanistan, May 3 (UPI) -- A senior insurgent leader known as Jamal was killed in Afghanistan Friday, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force reported.

A statement said Jamal, also known as Mullah Zabiullah, was the second-highest ranking insurgent official in Burkah district of Afghanistan's northeastern Baglan province, and was killed with three followers in a firefight.

His cell of terrorists is responsible for a number of attacks, including suicide attacks, against coalition forces and Afghan civilians, the Afghan Khaama Press said, adding he was personally responsible for recruiting and training Afghans in insurgency operations, and targeting officials for kidnappings and executions.
