Two teens allegedly break into and vandalize airplane in Spain

MADRID, April 30 (UPI) -- Police said they arrested two teenagers who allegedly caused $39,000 worth of damage to an airplane parked at a Madrid airport.

The teens, ages 16 and 19, are accused of sneaking through security controls in the airport's terminal to get to the runway, ThinkSpain reported. They then allegedly boarded the grounded Iberia plane at 3:45 a.m. Saturday and broke the aircraft's security door.

Once the pair were on the plane, they inflated life jackets and played with the crew's flashlights, The Local.es reported.

They also smashed up the landing wheel and the radio in the cockpit.

Police arrested both teens, who allegedly said they were just having fun.

The 16-year-old will stand trial in Madrid's juvenile court and the 19-year-old is also facing charges.
