MOSCOW, April 21 (UPI) -- The Russian Progress M-17M cargo spacecraft crash-landed into the Pacific Ocean Sunday, Russia's Mission Control said.
"The cargo spacecraft's fragments fell into the Pacific Ocean at 7:02 p.m. Moscow time," Mission Control said.
The spacecraft had docked with the International Space Station Oct. 31 after lifting off from the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan, RIA Novosti reported.
It was the second spacecraft to ever perform an accelerated docking with the station, the news agency said. The first was the M-16M space freighter in August 2012.
Progress M-17M undocked from the Zvezda module of the Russian segment of the ISS April 15 and was in autonomous mode for the next six days, performing a series of scientific experiments as part of the Radar-Progress project, RIA Novosti reported.
The undocking of M-17M from the ISS clears a docking port for the next Russian resupply vehicle, Progress M-19M, which will lift off from the Baikonur Space Center Wednesday.
