Three Iraqi soldiers dead, five injured in car bomb

MOSUL, Iraq, April 18 (UPI) -- Three Iraqi Army soldiers died and five others were injured Thursday when a car bomb exploded in western Mosul, a security official said.

"A car bomb targeted a patrol of the [Iraqi Army], resulted in killing three soldiers and injuring five others," IraqiNews.com reporting, quoting an unidentified source.

"A security force hurried to the explosion area and transferred the injuries to the hospital for treatment and the corpses to the morgue," the source said.

Meanwhile, three municipal workers in Basra province were injured Thursday when an improvised explosive device detonated, the news site reported.

"An IED that was [placed] near Basra University exploded injuring three municipal workers," a security source told the site.
