Police Senior Superintendent Cornwall "Bigga" Ford, head of the Kingston flying squad, said a suspect has been charged with carrying out the robbery and 13 watches have been recovered, The (Kingston) Gleaner reported.

Ford said a total of five suspects have been arrested, including a prominent Jamaican businessman and a political activist from St. Thomas.

A similar robbery in Cayman netted 24 watches, including some that have been recovered in Jamaica, Ford said. He said investigators are now looking at previous jewelry heists in Jamaica for possible links ot the suspects.

The thieves allegedly gave the watches to the mastermind of the robbery group, the Gleaner said.

"When charges are preferred against the suspects and their names are known, I think some people's mouth is going to drop," Ford said.
