Chinese student poisoned by roommate dies

SHANGHAI, April 16 (UPI) -- A Chinese postgraduate student has died after drinking water police said his roommate had poisoned.

Huang Yang, 28, drank water from a tainted dispenser and quickly became ill, vomiting. He was taken to a Shanghai hospital where he fell into a coma with his liver failing.

Officials said he died at 3:23 p.m. Tuesday, Gina's official Xinhua news agency said.

Police said they have arrested the man's roommate at Fudan University, known only by the surname Lin. Lin's motive was unclear, police said.
