BAISHAN CITY, China, April 7 (UPI) -- An investigation will be conducted into the causes of two recent explosions at a coal mine in northeast China, officials said.
More than 40 miners died in the two blasts and another 11 were still missing, officials said.
China State Administration of Work Safety, SAWS, Saturday said the high-level State Council would look into the explosions, which both occurred at the Babao Coal Mine in Jilin Province.
The first explosion happened March 29. The death toll, however, was raised to 36 on Saturday. The other explosion occurred Monday, leaving six miners dead, four injured and another 11 unaccounted for, China's Xinhua news agency said.
