Suicide bomber kills 6 in Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan, March 29 (UPI) -- A suicide bomb targeting paramilitary troops in Peshawar, Pakistan, killed six people and injured 14 others along a road near the U.S. Consulate, police said.

A bomber riding a motorbike targeted a convoy of the Frontier Constabulary.

The bike struck a vehicle in the convoy carrying Commandant Abdul Majeed Marwat, who appeared to be the intended victim of the attack, Dawn News reported Friday. Marwat was uninjured.

Police officer Mohammad Faisal said two women and four men were killed and the injured included four members of the Frontier Constabulary.

The explosion occurred on the Fakhr-i-Alam Road about 500 yards from the U.S. Consulate.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
