Bedouins release two hostages

NAZARETH, Israel, March 26 (UPI) -- The family of a kidnapped Israeli Arab said he has been released to Egyptian authorities along with the Norwegian tourist who was abducted with him.

Amir Omar Hassan, 23, of Nazareth was sharing a cab with Norwegian Ilgo Phillip, 32, when the pair were kidnapped by armed Bedouins Friday while vacationing in the Sinai, Ynetnews.com reported Tuesday.

Hassan's brother, Halad Hassan, said he was notified of the release.

"At 5:30 this morning I received a telephone call from my brother, who told me 'We've been released. I'm on my way to Cairo and from there I will return home.'"

Phillip told Ynetnews.com they were not mistreated.

"The kidnappers treated us well and gave us food and drink," she said. "However, we have been through a very difficult four days."

Egyptian media reported release of the two came after Egypt agreed to re-examine the jailing of relatives of the kidnappers.
