Gadhafi family members left Algeria

ALGIERS, Algeria, March 22 (UPI) -- Moammar Gadhafi's widow, daughter and two of his sons are no longer in Algeria, the country's ambassador to Libya said.

Reports about the departure of members of the family of the longtime Libyan leader, who was killed Oct. 20, 2011, began spreading in November but Algerian authorities did not confirm their move until recently, the BBC said.

Gadhafi's widow, Safia, his daughter Aisha and sons Hannibal and Muhammad had sought refuge in 2011 after rebels reached the Libyan capital, the BBC said.

It is not known where they are now, the report said.

Following a request from Libyan authorities, Interpol is looking to arrest Safia and Muhammad, BBC reported.

Another of Gadhafi's sons, Saif al-Islam, who was expected to be his father's successor, was captured in Libya and remains in detention there, the BBC said.
