PKK head proposes withdrawal from Turkey

ANKARA, Turkey, March 16 (UPI) -- The head of a Kurdish separatist party has proposed completing a withdrawal of its fighters from Turkey this summer.

Abdullah Ocalan, during a meeting this week with deputies from Turkey's Parliament, proposed a cease-fire and the removal of his Kurdistan Workers' Party forces from Turkey by June 16, the Hurriyet Daily News reported Saturday.

The meeting took place at the prison where Ocalan was being held by Turkish authorities. The deputies were from the Peace and Democracy Party.

The editor of the daily Radikal also attended the meeting and said a third parliamentary delegation would meet with Ocalan next week.
