Iran fires missiles used by Hamas

TEHRAN, March 14 (UPI) -- The Iranian army successfully test-fired missiles, including models of the Fajr-5 rocket launched by Hamas at Israeli cities last November, officials said.

The Iranian army announced Thursday the firing of Nazeat-10 and Fajr-5 missiles during an army exercise in central Iran, the semi-official Fars news agency said.

During the Israel's Operation Pillar of Defense in Gaza last year, a number of Fajr-5 rockets were fired toward Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and other Israeli cities.

At the time, Iranian officials admitted to supplying Hamas in Gaza with technology to produce Fajr-5 missiles.

Gen. Mohammed Ali Jafari, head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, told Fars last year that Iran had supplied Hamas with the technology to produce long-range Fajr-5 missiles, so the missiles wouldn't have to be shipped to Gaza.
