Her husband, Hitoshi Yokota, was also hit by the car and died Thursday at Guam Memorial Hospital, Pacific Daily News reported.

Doctors released the woman Monday so she could return to Japan with her husband's remains.

Doctors said Michiko Yokota still needs medical attention and she would have a nurse and medical equipment on her trip.

Two other women were stabbed to death in the attack in which Desoto allegedly rammed his vehicle into Outrigger Resort Guam. After the crash, he left the vehicle and allegedly began stabbing bystanders. Eleven people were injured.

Desoto is named on two counts of murder, 13 counts of attempted murder and 13 counts of aggravated assault.
