Although the quake was centered relatively deep underground, it was felt 500 miles away in the capital Bogota, where Colombia Reports said windows were broken and walls cracked. The shaking also was felt in neighboring Ecuador and Peru.

Colombia Reports also noted the quake struck in the same region as a 7.3 shaker that occurred in September near the city of Popovan.
