Nine health workers killed in Nigeria

KANO, Nigeria, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Nine female health workers involved in immunization programs were shot to death in separate attacks Friday in Kano, northern Nigeria, officials said.

Magaji Majiya, a police spokesman, said the attacks were made simultaneously about 9 a.m. by men riding three-wheeled motor vehicles, the Leadership newspaper reported.

Seven women were killed at the health center in Hotoron Hayi district and two women were killed and four injured in an attack on the health center in the Anguwa Uku district, officials said.
