Chile rattled by 6.7 quake

COPIAPO, Chile, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- A 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck the northern coast of Chile Wednesday afternoon, U.S. seismologists said.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake occurred about 4:15 p.m. local time. Its epicenter was 63 miles south-southwest of Copiapo, 127 miles north-northeast of Coquimbo and 368 miles north of Santiago, the USGS said.

The temblor occurred at a depth of about 29 miles.

There were no immediate reports of serious damage or any injuries. There was no tsunami warning.
