ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- A case in which 94 suspects are accused of plotting to seize power in the United Arab Emirates has been referred to the Federal Supreme Court, an official said.
UAE Attorney General Saleem Saeed Kubaish said investigations had revealed the suspects allegedly set up an organization in an attempt to discredit the UAE government and take control.
The organization allegedly gave the impression is was foreign and promoted the teachings and virtues of Islam, Gulf News reported Sunday.
The members allegedly tarnished the image of the UAE through communications with individuals, and international and foreign entities. They provided these groups and individuals with inaccurate information to sway public opinion and weaken foreign relations , the Gulf News reported.
The group was allegedly in communication with the Muslim Brotherhood, from which it sought assistance, expertise and financial support, the newspaper said.
The members of the organization allegedly broke the law against sedition by indoctrinating individuals to sway their loyalty against the country with the end goal of seizing power, the Gulf News reported.
