Roadside bomb kills 10 in Afghanistan

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- A roadside bomb in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province killed at least eight Afghan soldiers and two suspected militants, officials said Sunday.

Provincial Security Chief Gen. Abdul Razaq said the improvised explosive device, IED, blew up as a convoy of Afghan soldiers passed by en route to a nearby military base, Khaama Press reported.

The soldiers had just defused another roadside bomb and had two suspected militants in custody, Razaq said. The detainees were among the dead.
