RAMALLAH, West Bank, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Israeli settlers from the outpost of Esh Kodesh on the West Bank uprooted more than 200 olive trees Friday in a nearby Palestinian village, officials said.
Ghassan Dhaglas, a local official, told the Ma'an news agency dozens of settlers were involved in the attack on the village of Qusra, near Nablus. He said at least 210 trees were destroyed.
Clashes are frequent in the area, with Palestinians living near Israeli settlements, officials say. A villager in Qusra was shot in the leg Thursday.
Last week, Ma'an reported the Israeli army intervened when settlers invaded Qusra, firing into the air and destroying olive trees. Some right-wing Israeli news media described the clash as an attack by Palestinians on settlers and also charged that the army tried to remove settlers from Esh Kodesh, an illegal outpost, on the Sabbath.
