MONTREAL, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- A man was killed in a shootout at a Montreal cafe Friday and a second was seriously injured in what may have been a mob hit, police said.
One of the victims, a 37-year-old, was shot in the head, the Montreal Gazette reported. He died two hours after the 2:20 p.m. shooting at the Cafe Domenica-In in the St. Leonard neighborhood.
Police said the second man was found hiding in the Montreal Choppers motorcycle shop next door with a bullet wound in his neck. The owner of Montreal Choppers, Giuseppe De Vito, was sentenced to 15 years in prison in June for his part in a major cocaine operation believed to have been organized by the mob.
On Monday, a man with known ties to organized crime was shot and wounded in Montreal, police said.
