NOVOKUZNETSK, Russia, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- A regional drug control department said police in Siberia have seized more than 203 pounds of heroin from Afghanistan.
"A truck arrived from Kyrgyzstan, via Kazakhstan and the Altai Territory. It carried several tons of onions and stashed drugs," the department said in a statement.

RIA Novosti said about 184 pounds of heroin were found in the truck while 20 more pounds were found in a suspected drug trafficker's apartment.
RIA Novosti said about 5 million drug addicts live in Russia, and an estimated 90 percent of heroin consumed in Russia is trafficked from Afghanistan.
