9 arrested after violence in Cairo court

CAIRO, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Authorities arrested nine people who allegedly assaulted security forces and caused damage in a southern Cairo court, the Egypt Independent reported.

Six security personnel were said to be injured, the report said.

The nine people were accused of causing chaos in the courtroom Wednesday after a judge sentenced two of their relatives to three years in prison for possessing unlicensed weapons, the newspaper said.

The suspects allegedly damaged seats in the courtroom, frightened other people present at the hearing and insulted and assaulted security forces.
