MOSCOW, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- A member of the convicted Russian punk group Pussy Riot will be filing a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights, officials said.
Yekaterina Samutsevich, who, along with two other members of Pussy Riot, was sentenced to jail in August after a court found them guilty of "hooliganism with the aim of inciting religious hatred," will lodged a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights, RIA Novosti reported Friday.
Samutsevich's lawyer, Irina Khrunova, said the arrest of her client infringed on her freedom to express opinion and "violates the Article 10 of the European Convention that guarantees the freedom of speech."
Khrunova said a final and detailed complaint will be submitted with the human rights court in Strasbourg, France, by the end of the year.
Samutsevich last week was freed during an appeal hearing, but the two other women were ordered to serve out their two-year sentences.
