ROME, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Dozens of migrants from several countries were picked up in separate incidents in southern regions of Italy, authorities said.
The Italian coast guard rescued 109 migrants Friday from a boat about 70 nautical miles (80 miles) southeast of the island of Lampedusa, and another 44 were found along a coastal road in Caloabria Thursday, ANSA reported.

Police said the people were from Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Iraq.
The migrants were described as being in "good" condition.
