The gunman, who hadn't been identified, was in Israel as part of an exchange program supported by the Jewish Agency and was fired recently as a kitchen employee at the Leonardo Club Hotel, The Jerusalem Post reported. He had gone to the hotel's kitchen, where he argued with the employee who was then killed.

The Post said after the shootings the man barricaded himself in the kitchen and police deployed anti-terrorism personnel who determined through negotiations with the gunmen that he didn't have any hostages.

Eventually, shots were exchanged and sharpshooters killed the gunman in the kitchen. No police officers were injured.
