Canadian men charged for chained sex slave

UPPER CHELSEA, Nova Scotia, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- A Canadian man was arrested and his partner was sought in the alleged chaining of a teenage boy who was sexually assaulted, police said.

David J. Leblanc, 47, of Nova Scotia was arrested Sunday after a motorist reported seeing a suspicious man walking on a logging road in Ontario without shoes, CBC News reported.

Police say Leblanc and a second man, Wayne A. Cunningham, 31, held a 16-year-old in chains for two weeks in the couple's Upper Chelsea, Nova Scotia, home and repeatedly sexually abused him before the boy escaped Wednesday and went for help.

The teen walked nearly a mile before reaching a neighbor's house with the chains still on his wrists and ankles and naked from the waist down. He was taken to an area hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police swore out warrants for Leblanc and Cunningham after the teen escaped. CBC reported Cunningham may be posing as a woman and quoted a relative of Leblanc saying he's "very convincing" posing as a girl in her late teens or early 20s.

Relatives said Leblanc and Cunningham have been in a common-law relationship for years.
