Beef recalled in Canada

OTTAWA, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A Canadian company has voluntarily recalled beef products suspected of E. coli bacteria contamination, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said.

There have been no reported illnesses, the agency said.

The meat, from XL Food of Calgary, Alberta, was used in Kirkland Signature, Safeway and Calahoo Meat brands, and was distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario provinces, the Canadian Broadcasting Company reported Monday.

Consumers were advised to return recalled items to stores where they were purchased.
