Survivor says one gunman shot family

ANNECY, France, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- A young girl who survived a shooting that killed three members of her family at a French nature park has told police there was only one gunman.

Seven-year-old Zainab al-Hilli spoke to police Thursday for the first time since the shooting 10 days ago, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

French investigators said the girl told them only "one bad man" shot her family members.

Zainab and her 4-year-old sister Zeena were the only survivors. Their parents, Saad and Iqbal al-Hilli, and their grandmother were found shot to death in their car at a nature preserve outside Annecy where they were vacationing.

Zainab was badly beaten. Zeena hid under the bodies of her mother and grandmother and was not injured.

A French bicyclist also was killed.

Eric Maillaud, a French prosecutor in charge of the investigation, said the cause of the shooting is believed to lie in England where the family lived and where Saad al-Hilli worked as an engineer.
