Russia's oldest person dead at 122

MAKHACHKALA, Russia, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Russia's oldest living person died early Tuesday less than four months after celebrating his 122nd birthday, officials in Russia's North Caucasus region said.

Magomed Labazanov is believed to have been born in Dagestan in May of 1890 but his birth date has not been officially certified, RIA Novosti reported.

Labazanov lived in neighboring Chechnya as well as Kazakhstan before returning to Dagestan after World War II.
