Moon wake shows family tension

GAPYEONG, South Korea, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- The Rev. Sun Myung Moon's eldest son Dr. Hyun Jin Moon's car was blocked from proceeding to his father's wake by security guards.

Hyun Jin Moon arrived at World Center in Gapyeong County to pay his respects to his father whom he has not been able to see since being asked to leave his father's side at St. Mary's Hospital in late August.

Sun Myung Moon, the founder of the Unification Church, died Sept. 3 at the age of 92.

Hyun Jin Moon was accompanied by a number of people who also wished to pay their respects Monday.

Hyun Jin Moon and those who came with him didn't resist the blockade but prayed and sang hymns as they waited to be allowed in. They were not admitted but faced the resting place of Sun Myung Moon and offered a bow and prayer.

Unification Church officials said that Hyun Jin Moon could enter to view his father but that other members of his party could not accompany him. Previously the Tongil Foundation Web site announced that the viewing would be open to all who wished to pay their respects to Sun Myung Moon.
