U.S. drone attack kills 4 in Pakistan

NORTH WAZIRISTAN, Pakistan, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- A U.S. drone attack Saturday in Pakistan near the Afghan border killed at least four people, Pakistani security officials said.

The officials said two missiles were fired in North Waziristan near the border considered a stronghold of Taliban and al-Qaida militants.

Pakistan has said drone strikes violate its sovereignty, but U.S. military officials believe they are an important tool to defeat al-Qaida terrorists, Voice of America reported.

Meanwhile, a suicide car bomb attack killed five people Saturday near Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province, VOA said.
